Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are excellent. The audio is clear with a very nice balance. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and nothing short of outstanding. There's a touch of grain to give it a slightly artistic feeling as well as lighting that shows not only a great amount of care, but a great amount of effort. Add in a great hand on the camera and eye behind it and you have a presentation that's downright fantastic.

Watermark Warning: Although I don't know of anybody who likes watermarks, I can understand companies wanting to take some kind of action to protect themselves with how much piracy occurs in today's world. As I know some don't agree with this thought, I will note that there is a tasteful watermark in the lower right corner that's so light that I'm not sure if comes and goes through the movie or if it just fades into the background that well. If one has to do a watermark, this is definitely the way to do it.

The Movie: After a few years married to India, Steven's life has become nothing but routine. When out for a smoke at a party for close friend and coworker Raylene he meets her niece Remy and soon after begins an affair with her. Of course, things like affairs can never go smoothly.

Tom hooks up with Samantha in the bedroom at his anniversary party not knowing the India is in the master bath. India hides in the shower when they move to the bathroom with Tom continuing to kiss Samantha and worship her. He moves down to worship her ass as Raylene joins them and they start kissing all around. Torn left me in awe, not just with passionate sex, but with a solid story, top notch acting, and most importantly, emotions that feel real. Remy LaCroix and Steven St. Croix are nothing short of fantastic in the lead roles. The chemistry between them grows beautifully through the movie to the point you can feel Steven's feelings for her even during his narration of the movie. Remy does a great job balancing her heart and mind knowing she's ?the other woman?, and between her and Steven really provide a great look at their relationship from both the male and female side. Steven is rock solid in his role, and comes across completely natural and real in his role. The supporting cast is just as good with India as Steven's independent wife, and although that could often end up as a very one-dimensional character, here India starts there and takes it into a character with some great depth. The biggest surprise for me was Raylene. She does a great job in her threesome with Tom and Samantha, but really shines when she's in the office working with Steven. She has a few laugh out loud moments and chuckles as they chat, but most of all came off with a very real person. That real aspect not only made Raylene stand out to me, but the entirety of Torn that made the sex all the better.

The ?couples? aspect of Torn stands out especially well for me. There's a great artistic style to the movie, that not a heavily artistic style that interferes with the action, but a soft style with a great eye to beauty that should work very well for many couples. I'm sure some couples will be surprised or even a little turned off by the movie starting out sexually with a threesome. That said, it works here in a couples film not just due to having some great chemistry among the players in the threesome, but due to how well it looks at all aspects of it, from the playful, exploratory, swinging side of Raylene as well as the shock of India. The key to the ?couples? aspect of the movie is Steven St. Croix's narration, which I think many couples will be able to fully relate to. I think most everyone who's been involved in a long term relationship feels themselves falling into a rut at some point, and Steven vocalizes the thoughts and fears of breaking out of it amazingly well. There's a fear of communication that we can fall into, fearing that we're going to rock the boat too much if we say how we really feel, not realizing that by saying nothing we may be risking things more. I love how that all opens up between Steven and India as they try to see if they can still make their marriage work and overcome the tears that have occurred in its fabric, even though we know that things won't so he can end up trying to make things work with Remy again. It's handled well enough, however, that one doesn't completely know how things will end up for Steven. When it comes to Steven as an actor I can't help but think of him as the wacky comedian in some great adult comedies (often with Jonathan Morgan), but with Torn he shows that he's one of the top dramatic actors as well with a fantastic depth that drives the movie.

Torn isn't a movie where you have scenes setting up the sex, but a movie where the sex fits in naturally with chemistry and an emotional backbone that's handled better here than virtually anywhere else in adult porn as well as in mainstream movies. There's a depth to Torn that's hard to find elsewhere, and it's made all the more unique due to a fantastic artistic style and eye behind the camera. Torn is a rare adult release that works well on every level and deserves more than a little consideration as we near the awards season.

The Extras: Trailers are included for eight releases from New Sensations' Romance line. The photo gallery lasts about two and a quarter minutes. There's also a behind the scenes featurette, a ?Pick Your Pleasure? option, and commercials.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts just under thirty two minutes. Each of the stars talks about how they're like they're character, betrayals, and how their fans can find them online. Remy also chats about her first big role and working with Steven St. Croix. India adds in a little chatting about open relationships and Raylene talks about her recommendation for Samantha Ryan for the movie and threesomes. Samantha also chats about threesomes as well as how she ended up in the movie, the importance of kissing, and relationships. Steven has a little fun chatting about the name change for the movie, monogamy, and society's effect on relationships. This is a very nice behind the scenes featurette. The questions often start out the same, but nicely grow and show off the performers as real people. There's some very nice moments throughout the featurette, especially with India, Samantha, and Steven, and it ends up a great addition to a great movie.
