The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is extremely clear and I didn't notice a single background noise. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen, and something I can see being a bit controversial for some people. The movie has a very soft look with some scenes being heavily tinted, and there's also some very skillful use of lighting where the scenes are dark but you can still make out virtually everything you want to see. While this worked for me, I like it when directors can use lighting right and can get artistic without the artistic styles getting in the way of the action. I also know that others want to see a picture as clear as possible where they can see every last details. I can completely understand this as well, and those people are going to be more than a little disappointed here due to Michael Raven digitally manipulating most of the movie to make it look very soft and to accentuate certain colors.

Music: The music is some of the best I've heard in an adult movie in a very long time. It almost always rests quietly in the background, and has an amazing range. It goes from modern interpretations of classical music (which seems very fitting for a modern retelling of a classical story) to music that seems reminiscent of mainstream movies in some areas and even Pink Floyd in one scene. The care that was put into the music definitely paid off, as the music helped to make an already great movie even more impressive.

Menus: The main menu keeps things fairly simple and blends the boxcover with a little action for a pretty good first impression. The chapter menu is sadly generic, and just lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a scene number rather than giving the viewer something useful like the name(s) of the performer(s) in each scene.

The Feature

By the time he was thirty, Samson (Herschel Savage) was vice president of Diagon, and within five years he was the senior vice president. There's no denying that Samson is a man of power, and he seemed to have no weaknesses as he set out to create ?the good life? for him and his wife (Hillary Scott). Of course, that was before his wife left him and he he met hairdresser Delilah (jessica drake), who would prove that he was far from untouchable. Yes, it's another Michael Raven retelling of one of the world's oldest stories, the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah.

Scene 1 ? Hillary Scott and Herschel Savage

Herschel starts out in bed with short haired blonde Hillary making sweet love. They kiss softly before he kisses her neck, caresses her breasts, and moves down to kiss her nipples. Hillary rewards him with a loving mouth hug for his member as he moves around to tongue her pussy at the same time, and then gets up to ride Herschel cowgirl style. This is a very well done scene. There's a great loving feeling between Herschel and Hillary and it moves at a nice pace. It also shows a great deal of technical care, with low lighting that captures the feeling of this being a late night lovemaking session while still letting you see everything. Being a flashback with Herschel feeling a little depressed, the blue tint added an extra touch of artistic flavor to the scene that also worked very well for me. This is a very nice scene, and a great one to start the movie with.

Scene 2 ? jessica drake and Herschel Savage

After dinner, jessica and Herschel get it on. They kiss passionately with her on top of him before jessica undresses him so she can kiss her way down his chest to suck and stroke his cock. The blue tint returns for this scene, and although it worked in the opening scene with Hillary, it doesn't work here and interfered with it slightly. In almost any other scene it might have even hurt the scene severely, but jessica and Herschel do such an amazing job that I was completely pulled into the scene and had almost forgotten about it by the end.

Scene 3 - jessica drake and Herschel Savage

jessica gives Herschel a bit of a lapdance after dinner with his friends. She wears a little sexy red and black outfit, and after rubbing herself against him helps him out of his pants so he can stroke himself while watching her play with herself and have a smoke. She reaches forward to stroke him as well, and finally milks a small pop from his cock.

This is a very sexy scene. It's fairly short, but it worked extremely well for me. The blue tint remains for this scene, which I can see annoying some people, but for me I found it added quite a bit of sexiness and made the scene much more erotic. Once again jessica looks great, and there's a dirty, sexy, lusty feeling about the scene that was helped out by music that reminded me a lot of Pink Floyd. There may not be any penetration for this scene, but it was hot enough that it didn't need it.

Scene 4 ? jessica drake

This is another scene that worked very well, and it broke away from the Herschel and jessica action while still fitting into the movie very well.

Scene 6 ? jessica drake and Randy Spears

jessica gets it on with Randy for the final scene. He pulls her dress aside to admire her ass as she lies back on the bed in what looks like a cheap motel room and plays with her pussy as she kisses him. This is yet another very nice scene. There's a dirty feeling that comes out very nicely between the cheap looking hotel room and jessica's attitude, and Randy plays into it a bit more with an extra touch of desperation throughout the scene. The scene moves along at a nice pace and the camera captures the action nicely despite what looks like a fairly tight location. This is a good scene to end the movie with.

Delilah is quite possibly Michael Raven's best modern retelling of a classic tale to date. The style might be a touch artistic for some people, but Jennifer Allison's screenplay is extremely well written as well as well acted. jessica drake is nothing short of amazing throughout the movie, both sexually and in her acting performance, and she's matched with great performances by Herschel Savage, Randy Spears, and Veronica Hart. There's some very nice variety to the sex, with jessica turning out teases that are every bit as hot as the fucking, while keeping the action very couples friendly without going into anal or group scenes. Kaylani Lei and Hillary Scott's performances are also nicely done and add to the overall movie very well. Add in Michael Raven's great eye directing it all, and it works together to be one of the best features I've seen from 2007. Delilah is a fantastic adult movie that kept my eyes glued to the screen the entire time.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Love Always, The Muse, Delilah, Porn Valley, Perfect Match, Supernatural, Zen, The Visitors, Becoming Carmen Hart, Made in the USA, and Honky Tonk Girl. Star stats are included for the entire female cast, and include a little personal information, a link to the star's scene, a Wicked filmography, and a photo of the star. There's also several photo galleries, deleted footage and scenes, and behind the scenes featurettes.

The main photo gallery lasts about four and a half minutes and star galleries are included for jessica drake, Hillary Scott, and Kaylani Lei lasting around two and a quarter minutes. In each case you get about seven seconds per very good looking snapshot. There's also a featurette on the boxcover shoot lasting about five and a half minutes. jessica starts out talking about how excited she is about the movie after seeing some of what Michael Raven has done with it. She talks about being an implant with implants, growing behind the camera, and stepping out of herself when she's acting. Afterwards she poses for a few stills in front of a black background. This is a nice featurette and jessica's interview adds very nicely to all of the photo gallery footage.

The deleted footage lasts nearly four minutes. Here you get to see Randy pile drive jessica. It's a nice bit of extra sex and adds a little to the overall DVD.

The outtakes last about six and a half minutes. Randy starts out with several forgotten lines before Kaylani gives more of the same. There's also some physical bloopers with Hillary and jessica as well as a few crack-ups around the set. This is a decent blend of outtakes, but there isn't anything wildly amusing to make this a must-see featurette.

The World of Delilah lasts about three and a quarter minutes. Michael Raven talks about how the footage was digitally altered while showing comparisons between the original footage and the end result at several points through the movie. This is an interesting look at the presentation of the movie, and with the more unique style of the movie a very nice extras.

All Access: The Making of Delilah lasts eighteen and a half minutes. Michael Raven starts out talking about how it's going to be a six or seven day shoot for the movie and gives a quick little recap of the original story. Sammie Rhodes gives a little eye candy and a few words before jessica chats while in the shower with Sammie and shoots their scene together. Hillary Scott is next, who gets a little direction from Raven before shooting her scene and showing off afterwards. jessica chats about being a giver and saving the day (in some killer boots) by running out of makeup for a shot before shooting a scene with Herschel. Veronica Hart chats a bit before shooting some footage with Hersechel. Things move on with jessica talking about her appreciation for firemen, cuing in Michael Raven on words not to use around her, and shooting her scene with Randy. There's also a little time with Kaylani working on her lines with Hillary before getting it on with Randy and having a laugh to end it. This is a decent behind the scenes featurette. As usual jessica provides plenty of personality and Raven comes off knowing just how he wants things. Beyond that, for a six or seven day shoot there wasn't a lot of interviews with much of the featurette focusing on shooting the scenes.

Bonus Scene ? jessica drake and Sammie Rhodes

Unlike the main production, the bonus scene is presented in non-anamorphic widescreen. jessica starts out kissing Sammie's neck in the shower from behind as she reaches around to grab her tits and then moves down to tongue her pussy and ass. Sammie gets down to repay her, and after a bit lets jessica finger her asshole while giving her ass a few slaps. The camera work got a bit tight for my tastes for much of the scene, but with the tight location I think this was probably unavoidable. This is a very nice bonus scene, and my only complaint is that it wasn't included in anamorphic widescreen like the movie was.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Wicked's DVDs can be found online for between about $15 and $25 with a few stores offering them at the low end. Even at the high end this one should be tempting. The movie is excellent, with hot sex, a great story, and amazing performances. The technical aspects might be a little artistic for some, but worked well for me, and there's some good effort put into the extras. This is a very well done DVD.
