The Short Story

Initial Expectations: It's been a heck of a long time since I checked out some of the Barely Legal series. I'm not quite sure what to expect, especially since Hustler's quality control has really seemed to have been dropping over the last year or so.

Initial Reaction: It's a nice piece of fluff that seems to do just what it set out to, but that doesn't make it a great release.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting light and pretty scenes with barely legal girls

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting something that feels a little creative or a bit of variety

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, including the voiceovers. There are a few areas which appear to be dubbed in, but they're dubbed well enough that it doesn't immediately draw one's attention. The video is presented in the full frame format and looks pretty good. It's clear and well lit, and I didn't notice any unusual camera motion.

Music: There's a little music in each scene. It rests nicely in the background and always has an easy feel that fits the movie very well.

Menus: The main menu nicely works through a few animated stills of the girls before settling in on a nice group photo to give a good first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title for the scene. There's also a ?Select a Star? option that lets you not only choose a scene based on stills of the girls and their names, but choose where you want to go in the scene sexually after you choose a girl.

The Feature

The Barely Legal series keeps things simple. Each scene revolves around an eighteen year old girl who writes in to Barely Legal about a sexual encounter she had.

Scene 1 ? Riley Mason and Scott Nails

Scott starts out wondering where the normal fat delivery guy is when dark haired hottie (with the exception of her hideous ring in the middle of her nose which always makes me deduct even more potential IQ points from a person than a southern accent) Riley delivers the package instead. She quickly moves on to check out his package, and they grope each other a bit before she drops down to suck and stroke his cock. Riley sits back in a chair so Scott can tongue and finger her in return before she gets up and lets Scott take her from behind. This is a decent little scene. Riley looks hot, with the exception of the ring through her nose that could make any girl look like a farm animal wannabe, and puts out some nice energy. There's nice chemistry between them through the scene, and it moves along at a pretty good pace. This is a nice start to the movie.

Scene 2 ? Taylor Hillton and Cheyne Collins

Taylor passes the same lot every day after school, and always sees ?cute guy? Cheyne working there. This is a decent scene, but nothing overly special.

Scene 3 ? Veronique Vega and Jack Venice

Veronique has had her eye on Jack, who shoes his horses, for years, and when she turns eighteen decides to make a play for him. Scene 4 ? Nikki Nine and T. J. Cummings

Scene 5 ? Cayton Caley and Marlie Moore

The girls are very easy on the eyes, but there isn't any real depth to this scene.

Barely Legal 68 is all about young girls looking pretty and having pretty sex. The visuals are great throughout the movie, but if one wants more depth, I can't help but think they're going to be disappointed. The sex is a bit formulaic with the four boy ? girl scenes going with oral and then three positions and a pop regardless of how long the scene is and how it's moving. The girl ? girl is even more generic, but makes up for it by kicking up the eye candy aspect. That said, even with its faults there's still something very likable about Barely Legal 68 and I think it's the enjoyment that Erica McLean seems to be having with the scenes. No, they're not deep or heavily passionate, but they're not supposed to be. The scenes only set out to be fun little fantasies with plenty of eye candy and that's exactly what they are. There are a lot of times when that's all one needs, and if that's the case, then Barely Legal 68 should be just what you need.

The Extra Stuff

The slide show lasts about four minutes with about six seconds per good looking snapshot or full screen photo. Trailers are included for Pinup Honeys 2, Gangsta Hos, The Dark Side of Memphis, A-List 2, Britney Rears 3: Britney Gets Shafted, Over 40 MILFs, Eurobabes Gone Wild, 18 & Easy 6, and Boning Bonita Chicas. There's also a behind the scenes featurette and, since this is a Hustler release, a plethora of commercials.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about two and a half minutes. Veronique starts things out talking about being in the business for barely two months before Jack mouths off while she's being touched up. Riley is next, who answers a few questions while being dressed up and then shows off while having a smoke outside. Finally, there's a couple comments from Nikki as she stretches out. For not even lasting two and a half minutes, this is a pretty good featurette. You get a bit of personality out of the girls as well as a bit of eye candy. This isn't a great featurette, but it does add a little to the overall DVD.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Hustler?s DVDs can be found online for between about $16 and $25 with stores offering it everywhere in between. Aim for the low end here. The sex is pretty, but I'm not sure how much replay value it has. The technical aspects are nicely done and there is a little effort put into the extras. This is an okay release.
