The Short Story

Initial Expectations: I'm a bit leery going into this one. I've heard good things about New Sensations' ?Romance? series, but all too often a focus on couples and sex for women means toning things down to the point they almost become insultingly bland.

Initial Reaction: It's a fantastic feature with the focus in all the right places as well as some very good care towards the overall DVD.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very nice. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn't notice any background noises. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks great. There's just a hint of softness to the picture as well as nice care towards the lighting with nicely smooth camera work to finish things off.

Music: The music is excellent. It has a nice balance with the rest of the audio as well as a very soft style that works extremely well for the movie. Combined with the camera work and locations, the music gave Almost Heaven an almost cinematic presentation.

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don?t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower right corner. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn?t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The main menu nicely blends a couple stills with a few clips from the movie and some soft music for a good first impression. The chapter menu nicely breaks things down between non-sex and sexual scenes, and gives titles for the non-sex scenes and the names of the performers for the sex scenes.

The Feature

Kiara Diane is more than a little surprised when she's escorted from a waiting room into a meeting where she's told she died the night before and is able to only take one memory with her into the afterlife. She's more than a little overwhelmed, and as she struggles with her memory and making the right choices she meets Allie, who's trying to figure out how to get her boss Xander to notice her and how much she cares for him.

After a nice dinner and walk around a garden, Danny and cute brunette Brooke decide to make love by a couch in the garden. They kiss softly as they help each other strip down, and give each other a little oral attention before Brooke gets up to ride Danny cowgirl style. She also lets him take her from behind before laying back for a bit of missionary work. Finally Danny pops a nice load over Brooke's pussy and stomach before giving her a few more kisses.

This is a very nice opening scene. The romantic feel comes forward right from the start with plenty of chemistry as well as the location. Brooke and Danny work at a nice pace and the action is very nicely captured. I also loved that Brooke has a real body with a couple curves rather than looking like she hasn't eaten in the last two months like so many other starlets. This is a very good start to the movie.

Xander gets a little office romance in the break room with cute brunette Allie between appointments. They kiss passionately with Xander continuing his kisses around her body as he helps her strip down before he eats her pussy as she sits on a counter in front of him. Allie kisses her way around his body as she moves down to suck his cock in return while giving him some great eyes. That said, there's also a moment of choking that just doesn't seem to work completely for the romantic feeling of the scene, but with how much passion seemed to be flowing between Allie and Xander it didn't interfere with the scene much. This is a very nice scene.

Blonde Victoria and Rocco decide to make a new memory to take with them instead of picking an old one. They find a private room, kiss passionately, and help each other strip with Rocco working his way around Victoria's nicely natural body with plenty of kisses. Naturally he moves down to eat her pussy with Victoria urging him on with plenty of moans before she rolls him to his back to kiss him and suck his cock in return. This is yet another great romantic scene. The setup for Rocco and Victoria is light, but works very well and helps with the very playful feeling about it. They keep things moving at a nice pace, and as usual with this release, there's plenty of chemistry and nicely done camera work. This is a very nice scene.

After a quick moment in the bedroom and bathroom, Kiara and Chris collapse on the bed together kissing. Chris moves down to eat Kiara's pussy with a smile before letting her happily reciprocate on his cock. She gets up to ride him cowgirl style before letting Chris spoon her and take her from behind. This is a very nice scene. The love between Chris and Kiara comes across very well, and once again there's nothing about the scene that seems at all rushed. Throw in some great camera work and this becomes a fantastic scene that definitely closes the feature on a high note.

When Kiara is asked about the memory she chooses, she says it's about the little things, and that's just what makes Almost Heaven a fantastic feature instead of just a couples feature. It's the little things. It's the kissing, the passionate looks between the couples, and the little time spent in setting up the scenes and making them a little more romantic. It's the little bit of extra care put into the locations and costumes to give the movie a consistent feel that works with the storyline. So many people confuse romance with something for women, but it's all the little things that add up to a great deal of romance that makes Almost Heaven not a great movie for women, but a great movie for couples, and one that shows the depth that makes sex great. So often ?couples movies? seem almost insulting because they take an attitude that sex has to be toned down to be palatable to some people, but instead Almost Heaven pays attention to the little details that makes sex great and because of it becomes great itself. This is a great feature that has me looking forward to each and every installment of New Sensation's Romance series.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts nearly fifty minutes with camera work by Ralph Long. After a little fun around the set, Kiara talks about her tattoo, her role, and what romance is for her, as well as her life outside of the industry and superpowers. Rocco is next, who talks about romance and his special romantic memory before Danny and Ralph talk about why people hate him and his future plans before Chris talks about romance and his romantic memory. Brooke talks about her role before she and Danny talk about what they look for in the opposite sex. Brooke also talks about her background, what she looks for in a guy, and food before Erik Everhard talks about what women want, romance, and ?THE ONE?. And his memory to take into the afterlife. Aubrey Addams talks about romance for a few moments before Alan Stafford talks about what women want, romance, ?THE ONE?, and his memory to take into the afterlife. Aubrey joins in to question Alan about his ideal date before Aubrey joins in the conversation about sex. Allie talks about her role and the movie and what she looks for in a man before Victoria talks about the movie, her memory to talk to the other side, and superpowers. Jessie talks about her memory to take to the other side before Melissa Jacobs talks about romance. Jessie also talks with Seth about various things including smokes and her being a geek. Victoria and Rocco return for him to talk about his knowledge of women, romance, getting cheesy (but not in the way that requires a trip to the doctor and a shot of penicillin), snowboarding, and SCUBA. This is a great behind the scenes featurette. You get plenty of personality from the stars, including plenty of talk about romance as well as a lot of depth into them personally that you don't normally get in the usual behind the scenes featurette. This is a great addition to the overall DVD.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many New Sensations DVDs can be found online for between about $16 and $25 with most stores offering them for under $20. This one's well worth the money. The movie is very well done with plenty of effort put into both the sex and the setups. The technical aspects show plenty of effort, and the extras are great. If you're even the least bit interested in this one, please take the time to check it out.
