The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects leave plenty to be desired. The audio is easily the worst Ive heard from Smash in I dont know how long, and has frequent little background noises and balance problems. The video is better, but still has plenty of problems. The lighting is weak and there are frequent shadows. Theres also a little grain, a lot of camera motion, and quite a few soft focus problems. If all that isnt enough, theres even some of the audio and video which arent synched together. The audio and video problems hold back the entire movie.

Music: Theres a bit of music during the setups, which has a darker feel, but it quickly disappears before the action starts. Unfortunately, its also quite loud and covers much of the dialogue in the setups.

Menus: The main menu works some nice animation with the boxcover to give a very nice first impression. The chapter menu is even better. After letting you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the girl in the scene, youre given a second menu listing everybody in the scene that lets you choose where in the scene you want to go.

The action is above average, but the technical aspects hold back the entire movie. There also isnt much effort put into the extras. This is an okay DVD, and nowhere close to the quality I normally expect from Smash.

Note to Smash Pictures: It was nice to see the effort you put into things like the menus. It lets the viewer know that Lee G. was the weak spot in the chain this time.
