Running Time: 98 min. (the cover lists Running Time: 130 min.. While this is true for the entire DVD, listing the running time as such grossly misrepresents the running time of the feature just like if a restaurant has a 16 oz prime rib dinner where 8 oz. is steak and the rest of the weight comes from your potato and vegetables. Because of this, I'm deducting a half point from the overall score. I will also note that in the most recent Penthouse DVD I watched, they appear to be listing the running time for the feature and not the entire DVD.)

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very well done with some deliberate attention and care to help them work with the artistic style of the movie. The audio is clear and well balanced, and although there are a few very quiet areas they feel deliberate for artistic effects rather than a problem. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks very good. Once again there are some definite artistic effects applied here, and you get some tinting, washed out areas, and dark areas, all of which fit the movie and its style very well.

Music: The music varies in balance throughout the movie, but often has a heavier feel. It also has a solid rock feel that worked extremely well for the release.

Menus: The main menu blends a few stills with a little background animation and music for a very nice first impression. The chapter menu shows some nice care, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the girl(s) in it.

The Feature

Guy Capo takes a tongue-in-cheek look around pornography and history with this release. He wraps the scenes around himself doing monologues about sex, and even brings in a few sexual commercials to further break things apart.

Scene 1 Holly Wellin and Charles Dera

By a pool in the Garden of Eden, dark haired Holly (Eve) runs her hands around the chest of Charles (Adam) before straddling him and feeding him pieces of mushroom. Scene 2 Abbey Brooks and Taylor Kurtis

Scene 3 Aurora Snow and Nick Manning

As things move into the seventies, hot blonde Aurora takes on long haired hippie cop looking guy Nick. He's not nearly as vocal as I normally expect him to be, and I can only expect that without being able to shout at the girls and talk down to them he's not quite sure what to do other than stick his cock in a hole. Thanks to Aurora and Capo's eye the scene does make it past the average mark, but Nick Manning really holds the scene back and looks to be completely off his game.

Scene 4 Nicole Sheridan and Voodoo

While sex can have many powers, as well as being power itself, there are also times when sex is just sex. I do like that Capo decided to mix things up with the pops by going with a cream pie, but I would hope in the future he either edits them better so there isn't so much the reality question as there is here or that he actually does use real cream pies. This is another nicely done scene.

Scene 5 Sophia, Alan Stafford, Chris Cannon, Justin Syder, and Marco Banderas

Sexual Revolution is a very good mix of sex and art, just as one would expect with Guy Capo behind the camera. Capo does a very nice job working all around sex and pornography, and does it in a manner where the sex and art work together rather than struggling against each other. In fact, after watching this movie I couldn't help but think that it worked as well for me as it did due to Capo's artistic style, and it even has me looking forward to more of Capo behind the camera rather than being rather ambivalent about him and his work. His monologues are often amusing, and although there isn't always a very tight focus on the subjects between the lead-ins and the scenes, the things that don't quite fit are amusing enough that you don't care that much. I think Abbey Brooks' scene with Taylor Kurtis might have been my favorite, but Holly Wellin's opening scene isn't far off. Sexual Revolution is a hot movie with a heavy style that might not work for some people, but the heavy artistic style is a big part of why I enjoyed it as much as I did. If you don't mind a heavier artistic hand with your sex, Sexual Revolution should be well worth your time and money.

The Extra Stuff

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about twenty minutes with Voodoo and Nicole Sheridan behind the camera. After a little fun chatting with Granny, Nick has a little fun chatting with Nicole Sheridan. Abbey Brooks is next, who talks about how long she's been in the business with Nicole, poses for her stills, and then chats with Voodoo about what's going to happen in her scene while showing off a bit. Taylor also chats about her upcoming scene and being willing to try most anything once sexually before posing for her stills and working with Guy Capo on what he wants for her scene. Sophia is next, who poses for her stills and chats about her upcoming scene, followed by Holly, who chats about being an animal lover who wants to get fucked before shooting her scene with the snake and then Charles. Nicole gets out from behind the camera to talk about her upcoming scene, as well as sex and foreplay, before posing for stills alone and with Voodoo. This is a nicely done behind the scenes featurette. You get plenty of personality from the stars, and somebody is included form each of the scenes. There's a nice sense of fun that Voodoo and Nicole bring out from behind the camera, and even Guy Capo gets a little time working with some of the cast. This is a well done featurette.

Bonus Scene Audrey Hollander, Jay Lassiter, and Otto Bauer

The bonus scene comes from Klub Slutz. In the club, the cage is about the only think keeping redhead Audrey safe from the crowd. The movie is hot and shows some very nice artistic skill right down to some very good care put into the technical aspects. The extras also show some nice effort and help this to be a very nicely done DVD all around.
