The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very nice. The audio is clear and well balanced, and although there are some background noises they always feel like they belong to make the scenes feel a little more realistic. The video is also very well done. Its actually presented in anamorphic widescreen rather than going for the Mal-Wart non-anamorphic transfer that Wicked usually uses. Theres a touch of grain, as usual with movies shot in DV, and the scenes are nicely lit.

Music: The music is some of the best Ive heard in an adult movie. It nicely mixes classical pieces from Beethoven and Debussy with harder modern rock music, and varies the balance throughout the movie. The music definitely took Polarity up a notch or two for both the sex and non-sex scenes.

Menus: The main menu is pretty simple, and works together a bit of the movie with the boxcover. The chapter menu is very generic and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number.

The Feature

When Nicoles cop husband Chris finds out shes pregnant, he fucks her and leaves her letting her know that hes sick of carrying her. The next day she comes home to find her house being robbed. Scene 1 - Nicole Sheridan and Chris Cannon

After Chris lets Nicole know about his shitty day at work and how hes feeling unloved, she comes out and gives him a kiss. They magically move to the bedroom where they strip down as Chris worships Nicoles feet and then moves up to lick her pussy. Due to the darker edge I can see it not working for some people, but I thought it was perfect for the movie.

Scene 2 - Alexis Malone and Voodoo

Hot blonde Alexis takes on Voodoo as part of his performance art in front of a goth-ish audience for the next scene. It works pretty well for the scene, but there was something about it that seemed just a little off.

Scene 3 - Eva Angelina, Evan Stone, and Voodoo

Brunette Eva takes on German Evan for what starts out as a fetish shoot. She sucks his cock before lying back and letting him tongue and finger her snatch. Scene 4 - Nicole Sheridan and Voodoo

After talking a little about art, Nicole and Voodoo kiss under one of the paintings she likes at his place. She moves on to kiss his other head, and gives him plenty of stroking as well. This is a nice little oral scene. Once again it fits very well into the movie, but theres the chemistry and enthusiasm that always goes along so nicely with Nicole and Voodoo. Once again its extremely short, but it also works.

Scene 5 - Kimberly Kane and Justine Joli

When Voodoo has too much on his mind to get in the mood, he lets bottle blonde Kimberly and redheaded Justine, both of whom have black skirts and sexy black boots, get it on without him. Best of all, the scene feels like it comes to a natural ending, which is always welcome in a lesbian scene. This is a very nicely done scene.

Scene 6 - Nicole Sheridan and Randy Spears

After taking a bath and talking with Randy about her past relationship, Nicole lets Randy know that if she thinks hes brave and makes her feel safe shell fuck her brains out. Nicole lets Randy give her a back rub and pour a little hot wax around her breasts before sucking his cock. The hot wax and foot action also helps the scene to feel a bit unique. The only thing that really holds the scene back is that it could have been a bit longer. This is a nicely done scene.

Polarity is a very well done movie that makes me think that how much one enjoys is might well be based upon your mood at the time you watch it. Its definitely a melancholy movie, and I think part of why it worked so well for me was because thats just the mood I was in when I watched it. As its protagonist Rachel, Nicole is far from strong and confident at the start. You see her world get tore apart and have to watch with her as she pushes almost everybody away while trying to find some semblance of peace in it. As Rachel, Nicole does a fantastic job. She plays the range of her character extremely well and does a great job with her three sex scenes. Voodoo and Randy also do nice jobs in their roles, and seem like the perfect people to play them. As for the direction and writing, I think David Stanley might have done his best job here that Ive seen so far. Being a Minnesotan, I love the Minnesota jokes he threw in, right down to Kimberlys accent. The conversations about snow and the adult industry also add a great human touch and a bit more depth to the movie. He works the sex into the movie here better than I think any other currently made movie has that Ive seen this year and gives the sex scenes a nice range of both style and emotion. In the end, the only thing I think I can claim as a problem with the movie is that a couple scenes felt like they could have been a little longer. Thats a very minor complaint and one that I think wont really matter too much to fans of adult feature films. Polarity is a very well done adult feature, and shows that Wicked definitely made the right move bringing David Stanley aboard when given the chance.

The Extra Stuff

Trailers are included for Polarity, The Collector, One Mans Obsession, Secrets of the Velvet Ring, Road Trixxx, Shameless, and Wicked Sex Party 7. A behind the scenes featurette is included, as well as an interview with David Stanley. Theres also a bonus scene, several photo galleries, and the usual Wicked extras.

The main photo gallery lasts over four minutes. Star galleries are also included for the entire female cast, each of which lasts between about two and a quarter and three minutes. In each case, the snapshots and full screen photos are slightly blurry and last about seven seconds each.

David Stanley gives a three and a half minute interview. He talks about it being six months between his last two movies after being used to averaging a movie a month. He discusses how he writes and his fear of losing it with the big break. He also talks about Wicked being the only other company he was interested in other than his previous employer and how Brad Armstrong influenced his desire to go there. The most interesting thing about his comments was his working out eighty page scripts rather than the usual thirty hes restricted to. With the shorter lengths of his movies it makes me really want to see Stanley go all out with a longer script and a much longer movie. Its a nice little interview that fans of Stanley will want to check out.

The behind featurette lasts twenty two minutes. David Stanley starts things out explaining what the movies about before working on a bit of the background and letting Nicole pose for a few stills. Nicole talks about working for Stanley and her scene with Voodoo in the movie. You get to see a little of how Stanley shoots his scenes as well as a little play between Justine and Kimberly. Theres a nice interview with Justine as well as an interview with Eva as shes in the makeup chair and posing for stills. Alexis Malone is next, who gives a nice tease for the camera before having a few words with the camera. This is a pretty good behind the scenes featurette. It mixes in a bit of the scenes being shot with a bit of the stars letting their personalities show.

Bonus Scene - Nicole Sheridan and Voodoo

The bonus scene comes from Whats a Girl Gotta Do?. Nicole and Voodoo start the scene out kissing passionately as they head into a bathroom area. The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Wickeds newer releases can be found online for between about $17 and $25 with many stores offering them for around $20. This ones well worth the money, but if youre unsure about it due to the mood of the movie Id strongly suggest you rent it. The technical aspects are very well done and theres some good attention given to the extras. This is a very nicely done DVD with a great movie.
