I was very surprised with this movie. The acting is good and the sex scenes are very good. My girlfriend and I usually can finish a movie before getting it on, but this time, we were so turned on, we couldn't wait. the movie was so good we had to watch the rest after we were done. I liked that there was no anal, no gonzo type scenes. All of the scenes were tastfully done and the actors never broke character. I hope they make more movies like this one.

This movie was a delight in so many ways- the editing, the lighting, the costumes, the scenery and especially the sex. A big surprise: some porn stars are talented actors. With special effects and a real story line, you sometimes forget it's a porn flick. It's definitely a big budget production, unlike the vast majority of shoot-in-one-day CDs that are the norm. The girls are gorgeous and the sex steamy and hot. Parts will have you laughing or at least smiling since there is scripted, intended humor you'll actually enjoy. Grab your girl, pop some popcorn and snuggle on the couch as you watch the story unfold. You and your girlfriend/wife will be tickled (in all the right places) you rented this one.

Rented it because of the media hype. It is kind of cornball cheesy - there are some things going on that don't fit into the period, but the male actors are kind of funny. I think it keeps the movie lighthearted. The love scenes were good - & there were a lot of things I'd never seen done before in a film. wowzers. I think good to watch solo or with your partner.

We thought Pirates was wonderful! Great costumes, special effects, the acting was fine and it was a really fun and SEXY movie! How can you go wrong with Jesse and Janine? Jesse is such a little nymph... she's so cool to watch. I mean, she LOVES everything about sex and it shows!

I gave it 3 stars because much of the acting is actually quite good, particularly Evan Stone. But I rent porn for sex. If I want to watch a movie about pirates I can always rent Johnny Depp's movies. Yes, I like good storylines in porn but comedy-porn doesn't flip my switch. Sexually I give this movie 2 stars. I decided to remove the sequel from my que.

Pirates is as much fun as an adult movie has any right to be - a bubbly blend of action-adventure, comedy, special effects and sex, plus the awesome eye-candy of the combined contract girls of Digital Playground and Adam & Eve. With maritime locations and sets that include a real pirate ship, plus some superb CGI work, it must be the most lavish skinflick ever made.

What made this great was the mix elements of what makes a major feature; talent, story, productions values, performances on and off the sex scenes, and the hard work that went into this was evident on screen. Evan Stone came across very good as the want-to-be pirate hunter comenic as well as trusted crew and hats off to Tommy Gunn and his crew. Music score was very good and scene fades very professional, warrant of a Lucas nod.

There were few distractions were some modern phrases that broke the spell of the pirate reality.

The supporting cast give great performances through out, specially the fight scenes, stunts and intergrated digital work. Bonus Disc is a must see for up and coming filmakers on how to make a great low budget feature that delivers better that Hollywoods' high budget white elephants. Start with a good story, get good actors (not expensive ones) and a production team that can make it work.

We look forward to more of Joone's work , Pirates 2 (we hope) and Digital Playground Features.

The Digital Playground Publicity Machine have worked in high gear for many months and their efforts have paid off with wins in crucial industry awards from AVN and the venerable XRCO, I set to find or debunk if this epic is worth its weight in gold or in pirate boot-AY so to speak!

Pirates is up for several XRCO awards including Best Release, Best Epic, and Best DVD Extras along with nominees in both best male and female performances. I sat through the 2006 AVN Awards and it got predictable who would win whenever it was a category that Pirates was nominated in.
